Default Tips for a New Guild Leader?

I recently created a new guild, CSI Ascalon [GWPD], and was wondering if anyone had any tips for me as I was recruiting, leading, and looking for an alliance. Its a PVE guild mainly, but I might try PVP. I wanted to hold small events and things like that in the Guild Hall. I also will try to keep it active, and also find an active alliance. Currently I am the only member, but I made it an hour ago and was too lazy to recruit . So any tips would be appreciated.

On a side note, anyone wanna join and try out my new guild?

Personally, I wouldn't bother. There are too many guilds out there and it is late in the game. People want to be in an already made guild, not start one up - and those that want to start one up want to lead (too many of those obviously).

I highly go against guild making unless you already have a few people who'd want to join - whenever I made a guild, I always had five to fifteen people who would join, and those all eventually failed because people went inactive and new members didn't like being in because they did not know others (and refused to get to know others).

If you really want to lead this new guild - and have people in it - I would suggest trying to get your friends to join. Don't bother filling out the hall with anything more than storage for now, wait till you get a good amount of people (15 to 20) before you get other necessities (i.e., merchant and priest, possibly rune trader).

Also, focus on getting a fun alliance before recruiting random people. And get your friends to bring their friends. Many people will not leave their guild, I'm sure, so that will be a problem.

Just focus on getting talkative and active people that you know, and people who your friends (or simply people you know) know.

Likeliness of your guild succeeding as an active guild - slim, just due to the time of the game's life you made it.

Of course, all of that is my personal opinion, and others will end up disagreeing with me.

I disagree. No i'm not joking.

Also just to point something out, what you said in your post isn't opinion. Either it IS to late in the game or it IS NOT to late in the game, either there IS to few players or there IS NOT to few to start a successful guild. It's fact or fiction. Not an opinion, and I would tend to think that it is fiction.

At the OP, yes it is getting a tad bit late in the game and there may not be quite as few players around but I think there is a bit of an illusion to how many players there are as a lot of PvE'ers just trundle along with heroes and hench and the game is larger so the population is more spread out.

However I think it is possible to start up a successful PvE guild (although what that entails i'm not sure, just playing together? Is that successful PvE Guild?) as there is still a lot of players in the game.

Just go to Kamadan and start spamming, you'll get quite a few members i'd say, providing you don't have to strict entry requirements and make the guild sound attractive people will want to join. I'd imagine the hardest bit is getting the first few players as PvE'ers seem to be in the mentality that if a Guild has less than 10-15 players then it somehow fails. If you have some friends who would want to join first then that will help i'd guess.

Goodluck to you.

Get about 5 of your friends to help you start it off. It is VERY hard to recruit nowadays. But, with a little bit of commitment, you could have a successful guild.

Another tip: Recruit frequently. Usually if people see that your guild isnt going anywhere, theyll leave. So try to keep your members interested and it will be a lot easier to build.

I do agree with what second poster said unless it is with real life friends or family and kept small.I would forget about pvp don't even think about it.

There are guilds and alliances struggling out there just to maintian thier core members and guilds. This is becasue player for the most part have moved on to other games. They may return for GW2 but they have gone for good for GW.

Heya guys..its never too late to start a new guild, i started my guild like 5 or 6 months ago and now im on like 38 mems alone...all it takes is perseverance and alot of dedicated time to get ppl to listen to ur idea and the info of the guild, tell ppl wat u want in the guild, PvP or PvE or both, and the best thing to do is join a nice alliance that keeps the chat busy so that the new mems dont feel left alone or unattended to...but thats my opinion

Presear or the noob islands are usually good places to recruit from.

The main thing to remember is that this is just a game and real life comes first, no matter what.

Prolly best to avoid just getting random people, you'll end up with Joe the "OMG GUILD LEADER DOESN'T USE WIKI BUILD!" whiners.

I think it'll be tough, Ascalon your best bet but that's just random new players, most prolly moaning cause they can't make baskets like in runescape
